Rep. John Huffman
(R-The Dalles) House District 59
Representative John Huffman was raised in Missouri, where his mother, Buena, continues to serve as a long-time church pastor.
In 1979, Rep. Huffman joined the U.S. Army and served his country until a severe back injury forced him to be honorably discharged. He moved to The Dalles in 1984, and a few years later, married his wife, Korina.
Rep. Huffman and Korina have raised eight children in The Dalles. Each has attended local public schools.
Rep. Huffman took over Q-104 radio in The Dalles in 1985, and built it into a popular and successful radio station. He later acquired minority ownership in the radio station, which he sold in March 2007.
Rep. Huffman has operated several businesses outside the broadcasting industry, including 12 years as a manager of a 30-acre pear orchard in Parkdale.
Rep. Huffman is an active member of The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce, and has served on its Economic Development Committee for many years. He helped efforts to attract Google to the Port of The Dalles, as well as to develop the National Scenic Area Discovery Center.
